:: the worship atmosphere of club alpha omega ::

(conditioned to heart, strength, spirit, body, mind and soul)

Jesus defined what it means to be a true worshipper. "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth" (John 4:23-25). We desire clubbers to be the "kind of worshippers" whom the Father seeks and to encourage a worship atmosphere where such worshippers thrive.

What does it mean to worship God in Spirit and in Truth? To Club Alpha Omega it means:

Pointing Clubbers to Jesus
(the Heart of Worship)

In the annointed words of Matt Redmond, Club* worship should be constantly set to the "heart of worship" which is all about Jesus. Do the letter and spirit of your worship say Jesus all over it? Does it point to the truth of the Gospel in clear terms? Is it Scriptural? If so, it is pointing in the right direction.

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2)

"For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." (1 Corinthians 2:2)

"But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." (John 12:32)

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me..." (John 14:6)

"For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:20)

Passionately seeking the Face of God
(the Strength of Worship)

It is a fact of Scripture that those who sought the Lord's face and presence found Him. Scripture is replete with instances of people who were not ashamed to call out to Him with everything they had. They would not be denied. King David, who had a heart after God, danced before Him with all his might. The woman who wet the feet of Jesus with her tears, wiped them with her hair and kissed them with her lips was said in the words of Jesus to have "loved much." They were the kind of worshippers whom the Father sought. Scriptural worship is anything but a spectator and dispassionate exercise.

"My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek." (Psalm 27:8)

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD..." (Jeremiah 29:13-14a)

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength" (Mark 12:30)

Welcoming the Spirit of God
(the Spirit of Worship)

Every club should serve up a passionate blend of worship to God that allows for the outpouring and ministry of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit is allowed to move, He is allowed to fill waiting communion cups. Club worship and worshipper alike should be overflowing with the Spirit.

"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Ephesians 5:18-20)

"What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church." (1 Corinthians 14:26)

"Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way." (1 Corinthians 14:39-40)

"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me." (John 15:26)

"Do not put out the Spirit's fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good." (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21)

Building Club and Clubbers
(The Body of Worship)

The best Club worship will not only point to Christ, be passionate, and spiritual it will also disciple. Discipleship is costly and so is the worship we seek. As in discipleship, worship values giving over recieving, for in giving everyone receives. It is done at the expense of the worshipper and no one else. Thus, Club worshippers should think about and pray for other worshippers as they worship so that everyone is built up by the experience. If balanced correctly, Club worship will not quench the Spirit of Worship, but it will the thirst of the Body.

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (Luke 6:38)

"Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church." (1 Corinthians 14:12)

"So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind? But if an unbeliever or someone who does not understand comes in while everybody is prophesying, he will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be judged by all, and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, "God is really among you!" (1 Corithians 14:23-25)

Relevance to your Young Adults
(The Mind and Soul of Worship)

In order to be relevant, Club worship should speak and adapt to the ever-changing language of your Young Adults. It should be music to the minds and souls of Young Adults and not noise. Some truths in worship never change. Those truths are above. One truth, however, is that language does change with time, location, and culture and so should the language of worship. This is worshipping in the language of love. We pray this is the language of Club worship.

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." (1 Corinthians 13:1)

"Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning. If then I do not grasp the meaning of what someone is saying, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and he is a foreigner to me." (1 Corinthians 14:10-11)

"To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings." (1 Corinthians 9:22-23)

"Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints." (Psalm 149:1)

* Club Alpha Omega exists as an extension of the Body of Christ - the Church. Thus, wherever you see the word "Club," you may replace it with the word "Church" or leave it blank altogether. The truths expressed above are infinitely larger than Club Alpha Omega worship.
